Interesting Facts

Initially presented to Napoleon I for anticipated future military victories, the uncarved vase was given to the Prince Regent after Napoleon's defeat at the Battle of Waterloo.
The vase was originally planned for the Waterloo Gallery at Windsor Castle, but was too heavy for the gallery's floors.
It spent time in the National Gallery, Hyde Park, and storage at the Victoria and Albert Museum before King Edward VII installed it in the Buckingham Palace grounds in 1903.
